UKIAH >> The Cancer Treatment and Infusion Center, which opened its doors in August at the Ukiah Valley Rural Health Center, welcomes hematologist and oncologist, Dr. Jennifer Choate.

Choate comes to Ukiah from Santa Cruz, where she has a local practice. When asked what piqued her interest in practicing at the newly opened Cancer Treatment and Infusion Center, Choate said, “I am curious and interested in exploring Northern California. Mendocino County”s gorgeous scenery and rural landscape feel like an adventure to me.”

As a hematologist and oncologist, Choate plans to provide the same comprehensive care as Dr. Russell I. Hardy, who is on sabbatical.

“I really want patients and the community to have a seamless transition of care,” Choate said. “I am here to support our patients” own values and desires, provide education about their disease and most importantly listen — while creating the best treatment plan of action for their disease.”

While not seeing patients Choate enjoys reading a good book, writing, dream work, meditation, studying and learning, exercise, volunteering, music, theater, family and friends. A favorite quote of Choate”s from Rumi is, “There is a field beyond right and wrong; I will meet you there.”

In addition to cancer care services, the center also offers programing dedicated to alternative therapies and healing arts called Focus on Healing which, open to anyone in the community with cancer–regardless if the center is where they receive treatment.
