LAKEPORT >> The traditional Bluegrass band, Blue and Lonesome, will headline the upcoming Old Time Bluegrass Jamboree, slated for Sept. 12 and 13 at the Soper Reese Community Theatre.

Doors open on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. featuring some old-time bluegrass music and fiddle playing with an Old-Fashioned Country Dance starting at 8:30 p.m. The event is a benefit for the Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association (AMIA), the nonprofit organization that works to keep Lake County”s Anderson Marsh State Historic Park open and available to the public.

On Sept. 13 doors open at 1 p.m. After being treated to numerous performers including Dennis Purcell, Mike Heinz, Polecat Rodeo, the Ruby Mt. String Band and Pat Ickes and Phil Cornish, Blue and Lonesome will perform at 8:30 p.m.

The band is a traditional bluegrass band consisting of Ed Neff, Mike Wilhoyte, Larry Cohea, Paul Shelasky and Markie Sanders. Blue and Lonesome has captured the traditional sound of bluegrass music as it was originally played, incorporating the experience and talents of five of the top traditional players in the business today.

Tickets for the two-day event cost $30; Sept. 12 only tickets are available for $15 and Sept. 13 only tickets are $20. Tickets are available at the Soper Reese box office from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays; at the Travel Center in the Shoreline Shopping Center in Lakeport, online at www.soperreesetheatre.com or at the door the day of the event.
