MIRANDA >> Amanda Walsh”s goal 2? minutes into the game turned out to be the only offense the Kelseyville Knights would need to beat South Fork 1-0 in a non-league girls” soccer match on Saturday at Miranda.
Abby Wold assisted on Walsh”s goal as the Knights (4-1) emerged from their weekend trip up north with a 1-1 split. They lost 6-1 to Ferndale on Friday in a physical game that left the team spent and with keeper Juliette Brown nursing an injury. She didn”t start on Saturday but later entered the game to bring the Knights up to a full compliment of 11 players. They had no reserves in either game.
“The Ferndale game was tough on us and we didn”t have much left (for South Fork),” Kelseyville coach Dave Wold said. “Overall we had a good week. It”s nice to come back from this trip 1-1.”
Kelseyville had 16 shots on goal to South Fork”s three.
“The defense still held up and it was 92 degrees up there,” Wold said. “We did the best we could with the players we had.”
Kelseyville will have all week to rest up for its North Central League I opener a week from today in St. Helena. While the Knights were scheduled to host El Molino in non-league action today, that game has been canceled.
“I”m looking forward to having a full team and everyone healthy,” Wold said. “Injuries have really taken a toll on us.”

The Knights originally had 31 players try out for the team although coach Eduardo Ledesma has since cut that number to 21.
“I had to make a few cuts,” Ledesma said. “I had too many people come out.”
The Knights return to action today against El Molino in Forestville. They open their North Central League I schedule next Tuesday at St. Helena.
