
CLEARLAKE >> St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake and the Lake County Office of Education will host Clear Lake Super Hero Day at Austin Park on Sunday.
Families are invited to the free-of-charge event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature a rock climbing wall, water slide, bungee run and bouncy houses.
Booths featuring community organizations will be on hand to share information about their services and provide activities for children.
Booths from The Hub, Konocti Wellness Center and The Hero Project will be at the event to represent new programs that are being offered in the community to help bring awareness to health care access and educational needs, according to Bruno Sabatier.
The Hub offers a one stop shop for community resources including information and referrals to medical and dental services, transportation services, food, clothing and housing information; counseling services for youth and families; parenting support and education; information and assistance with new health insurance options through the Affordable Care Act.
Konocti”s Wellness Center is a collaboration between St. Helena Hospital, Clear Lake and Konocti Unified School District to provide accessible health care for the students in the district.
The Hero Project is a new educational initiative that encourages parent engagement by helping parents improve their parenting skills and recognize that they are their child”s first and most important teacher, Sabatier stated. Attendees can sign up for the project and receive a free-of-charge backpack and raffle ticket.
Additionally, there will be pickup basketball games, skate park competition and Glory Days flag football.
DJ Ken Steely will provide music and games for children.
Cactus Grill and Sammi”s Sandwich Shop will serve food free-of-charge, while quantities last.
