ARBUCKLE >> The Lower Lake Trojans dug a deep hole for themselves and couldn”t escape on Tuesday evening during a non-league varsity volleyball match against Pierce High School in Arbuckle.

The Bears dominated early and went on to win 25-10, 25-17, 23-25, 25-10.

“They were eating us up with their dinks,” Lower Lake coach Darcie Schmidt said.

Brooke Taliaferro and Jolene Scarborough turned in solid performances in the defeat. Taliaferro had six kills, nine service points and one ace while Scarborough, a first-year varsity player, had three blocks and two kills.

“She was all over the place on the net,” Schmidt said of Scarborough.

Other standouts for the Trojans (1-1) were Ashlynn Mock with 10 points and Emma Diener with five points, two kills and nine digs.

Lower Lake”s junior varsity squad lost 25-15, 25-23.

The Trojans return to action tonight in Upper Lake.
