KELSEYVILLE >> Friends of Taylor Observatory (FOTO) will host the facility”s first presentation in Spanish Saturday at 8 p.m.

Eduardo Alatorre, a recent Kelseyville High School graduate and longtime observatory assistant, will present the lecture “Explorando el Sistema Solar.”

Following the talk there will be a planetarium show and viewing of the night sky through the observatory”s telescopes.

Alatorre joined the Friends of Taylor Board of Directors this summer. Bill Haddon, FOTO president, has asked Alatorre to organize a formal Spanish language program for the observatory on the premise that the sometimes highly-technical details of astronomy may best be presented in the listener”s native language.

The group hopes to make available a Spanish language version of the Mystery of the Christmas Star in time for the holiday presentations in the Norton Planetarium.

Admission costs $5 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. For further information visit www.taylorobservatory.org or call 262-4121.

The Taylor Observatory is located at 5725 Oak Hill Lane in Kelseyville.
