MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown couldn”t hold a 2-0 halftime lead and ended up tying Roseland Prep 2-2 in a non-league girls” soccer game played in 100-degree heat on Friday afternoon in Middletown.
Middletown went ahead 1-0 just five minutes into the game on an unassisted Kaleigh Alves goal. Megan Touros scored in the 21st minute to make it 2-0.
“We had lots of really amazing runs at the net, but many times we held the ball one touch too long,” Middletown coach Amy Emerson said. “That”s something we need to work on in practice.”
The game was briefly stopped in the second half as the officials called a water timeout because of the intense heat.
Middletown (3-1-1) was minus starters Gracie Armstrong (injury) and Ashlyn Welton (sickness).
Middletown opens its North Central League I schedule at home against Willits on Tuesday.
