KELSEYVILLE >> Patrick Mick rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night as the Kelseyville High School junior varsity football team completed the non-league portion of it schedule with a 40-6 win over the visiting South Fork Cubs.
Mick carried the ball only seven times as the Knights improved to 3-0.
Another force on offense for Kelseyville was quarterback Logan Barrick, who completed four of seven passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns, both to receiver Scott Sanchez (three catches for 108 yards for the game). Barrick also rushed for another 76 yards with two touchdowns.
“We started the game a little slow, but we turned it around after the first quarter,” Kelseyville coach Jim Ducoty said.
The Knights were led on defense by JD Prescott with five unassisted tackles and two assists. Sanchez recovered a pair of fumbles.
Kelseyville has a bye this week before returning to action Sept. 26 at home against St. Helena, the North Central League I opener for both teams.

Clear Lake 40, Upper Lake 6
At Lakeport, Cameron Borg ran for a 25-yard touchdown and returned a punt 60 yards for another score to lead the Clear Lake Cardinals to a blowout victory over the Upper Lake Cougars and a 3-0 preseason record.
Borg, Clear Lake”s leading rusher with 119 yards on eight carries, ran it in from 25 yards out in the first quarter to give the Cardinals a 14-0 lead. His long punt return in the second quarter made it 27-0.
Clear Lake opened its scoring with a 53-yard interception return by Brandon Orozco. Jake Jackson”s 10-run run later in the first quarter made it 21-0.
The Cardinals boosted their lead to 33-0 on Christian Rivera”s 10-yard run late in the second quarter. Upper Lake then scored on a 13-yard pass from quarterback Nick Newcomb to Eddie Crandell to make it 33-6 at the half. A 40-yard screen pass from Newcomb to Cody Rybolt set up the score.
“Newcomb did a good job in the second half keeping us in the game,” Upper Lake coach Mike Smith said.
Sam Long”s 5-yard run in the third quarter pushed Clear Lake”s advantage to 40-6 as Gerardo Martinez kicked his fourth extra point of the game.
Linebacker Cody Dilsaver anchored the Clear Lake defense with nine solo tackles and two assists. Long, starting at defensive end for the firs time, also came up big with seven solo stops and five assists.
“He did a really good job for us,” Clear Lake coach Derek Butcher said.
Two other standouts were Borg with five solo tackles, one assist and one sack, and ShaneTaffi with three tackles, two assists and one sack. Taffi also had an interception.
“We had a lot of injuries and a lot of backup kids starting,” Butcher said. “They did a great job.”
Butcher also gave high marks to his offensive line for its run blocking.
Clear Lake enters a bye week and returns to action Sept. 26 at home against Cloverdale, the league opener for both teams.
“We need the time to rest and to heal,” Butcher said. “The bye is coming at a good time for us.”
