LAKEPORT >> Four Lake County community leaders have agreed to be VIP judges at the upcoming Falling Leaves Quilt Show and will select their favorite quilts based upon eye appeal. The VIP judges are a diverse group, coming from all walks of life.
Dave Faries works as managing editor of the Lake County Record-Bee, Gloria Flaherty is the executive director of the Lake Family Resource Agency, Marilyn Holdenreid is a member of the Lake County Quilt Trail committee and founder/chairman of the Kelseyville Pear Festival and Robin Kinsley is the owner and designer of Bird Brain Designs in Kelseyville.
A professional quilt judge will evaluate quilts based on skill and technique. The VIP judges, however, will use different criteria as they examine the 200 quilts on display: they “know what they like.” The quilts that they select will be marked for quilt show guests to see.
The Falling Leaves Quilt Show takes place at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Show hours are Oct. 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The show will feature about 200 quilts from minis a few inches across to king-size bedcovers executed in a variety of techniques and in all colors of the spectrum.
Other attractions will be the Country Store Boutique, a vendor mall, quilting demonstrations, themed gift baskets and an opportunity quilt. Angelina”s Bakery will cater lunch both days.
