LAKEPORT >> A regular bar check ended with units from city, county and state law enforcement agencies at the scene after an allegedly drunken man and his father were uncooperative with officers.
Just after midnight on Sunday, a Lakeport officer, along with a civilian ride-along, entered TJ”s Bar & Grill to conduct a check with about 100 people present, according to Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen.
Roman Hanson Rose, 24, allegedly grabbed the back of the officer”s duty belt and was hostile toward the cop, who called in for a backup that arrived within minutes, Rasmussen stated.
Both officers approached Rose, who reportedly appeared to be drunk, and asked him to step outside due to his behavior. Rose allegedly refused, continued to be hostile and used both hands to push the initial officer, Rasmussen stated. Rose allegedly resisted arrest and the second officer used a Taser before handcuffing him.
While being taken outside to a patrol car, Rose allegedly escaped and ran across South Main Street before being detained again.
Meanwhile, Rose”s father, Michael Dale Rose, 51, allegedly went to his son”s aid and grabbed the initial officer around neck and assaulted the ride-along passenger, who sustained no injuries, according to Rasmussen.
The officer had minor injuries.
With the help of the ride-along passenger and three bar customers, the second officer took Michael Dale Rose into custody.
Officers allege other bar patrons were becoming hostile, and emergency backup was requested, Rasmussen stated. Six Lake County Sheriff”s Office Units and two California Highway Patrol officers responded. Clearlake police were also contacted but response was later cancelled.
Both men arrested received minor injuries during the incident and were transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for medical clearance prior to booking, Rasmussen stated.
