LAKEPORT >> Skin Fitness will host a fundraiser, “Kiss Cancer Away,” during October. The event promotes and supports breast cancer awareness.
The nonprofit to which the funds will go, dubbed “Faith”s Fund,” was started by Faith Hornby, daughter of store owner Janice Hornby, when she was Miss Teen Lake County 2011-12.
Faith”s Fund provides wigs and accessories to anyone in Lake County who is in need because of chemotherapy or radiation treatment, Janice Hornby stated. The fund donates up to 10 each year.
To raise money, donors pick a lipstick color and kiss a board for a donation. At the end of the month, three guest judges will choose their favorite marks, and the top three will receive a price.
All of the donations go toward purchasing more wigs.
Additionally, Skin Fitness will host an open house and ribbon cutting on Oct. 10 to celebrate its new location and 10 years of service. The event will also celebrate husband Shaun Hornby”s restoration business relocation and 15 years of service.
The LC Diamonds will perform, there will also be wine, giveaways and catering.
Skin Fitness is located at 480 S. Main St. in Lakeport.
