KELSEYVILLE >> Abby McQueen”s 13 kills helped the Kelseyville Knights sweep the Middletown Mustangs 25-19, 25-17, 25-21 in North Central League I varsity volleyball action on Thursday evening at Kelseyville.
“She”s playing extremely intelligent as a hitter,” Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister said of McQueen. “Sometimes she hits it hard, sometimes she taps it over the net,” McCallister said. “You don”t need to hit it 500 miles per hour to be effective. Some of my other players need to realize that.”
Mary McCallister led the Knights with 17 aces, Lauren Rudnick had a team-best 11 digs, and Eryka Dale turned in a strong performance from the back row, according to McCallister.
While the Knights (3-1) played well in all aspects of the game against Middletown, McCallister said the team”s crisp passing clearly stood out.
“I think we have one of the best passing teams (in the league) right now,” McCallister said. “Our passing is pretty strong.”
Middletown coach Jennifer Breiner wasn”t happy with the Mustankgs” effort.
“We played very poorly,” she said.
Middletown lost its second straight, falling to 2-2 in the NCL I standings.
