KELSEYVILLE >> The first meeting of the Lake County Rocket Club will take place on Oct. 15 at the Taylor Observatory in Kelseyville from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
This is the third year that the free-of-charge club welcomes any fourth- through eighth-grade student in Lake County. Parents are also encouraged to attend.
At the weekly meetings, club members learn about the physics and aerodynamics of flight. They build rockets from kits and then launch them.
Last year, some advanced students built rockets they designed themselves. In the spring the Rocket Club was invited to tour Lampson Field, a field trip all members enjoyed.
Interested parents or students wanting to join the club should call Bill Bordisso at 279-0923 for more information.
The Lake County Rocket Club is jointly sponsored by the Lake County Office of Education and the Children”s Museum of Art and Science.
The observatory is located at 5725 Oak Hills Lane in Kelseyville.
