COBB >> Lower Lake High School freshman Aleia Milano won the 3.0-mile girls” race on Wednesday during a four-team Coastal Mountain Conference cross country meet at Boggs Forest State Park on Cobb Mountain.

Milano, who topped the field at the Lake County Meet last month in Middletown, registered her third straight win this season by covering the Boggs Forest course in 20 minutes, 13.66 seconds. Challenging her the length of the course was Cloverdale”s Angela Romero, who finished a little more than a second behind Milano at 20:14.91.

Other winners on Wednesday were Willits sophomore Robert Swoboda in the varsity boys” race and Lower Lake”s Lucuas Plesia in the JV boys” race. Plesia, like teammate Milano, won his third straight race.

Girls

While Milano and Romero set the pace in the girls” race, Middletown emerged with the team win led by veterans Tiyanna Meese (22:02.08) and Tori Roderick (22:04.91), who finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Cloverdale”s Katie Edwards was third in 22:01.20.

Other Lake County standouts were Lower Lake”s Claire Alderson, 10th in 24:30.46; Middletown”s Michelle Williams (25:17.22) and Kamrin Williams (26:01.02), 11th and 12th, respectively; and Lower Lake”s Sequoia Dryer, 13th in 26:01.27.

Middletown finished with 82 points to Lower Lake”s 96 and Willits” 107.

Boys

Swoboda, Lower Lake”s Everardo Chavez and Middletown”s Diego Munoz were the class of the varsity boys” race, the only three runners to finish in less than 18 minutes. Swoboda led the way at 17:11.17 and was followed across the finish line by Chavez (17:25.50) and Munoz (17:31.90).

Rounding out the top five spots were Middletown”s Justin Hingston (18:04.43) and Willit”s Ankil Patel (18:39.95). Also cracking the top 10 was Middletown”s Jacob Olson, eighth in 19:00.48.

Willits won the team scoring portion of the meet with 59 points to 81 for Middletown and 87 for Lower Lake.

JV boys

Plesia ran away with the JV boys” race, clocking in at 20:12.14, nearly a minute ahead of second-place finisher Jack Shrive of Middletown (21:08.57). It was a wave of blue and white Lower Lake uniforms after that as Kevin Wiley (21:53.89), Jonathan Kincaid (21:54.16) and Jeremy Fredericks (22:39.51) rounded out the top five spots.

All teams were incomplete for scoring purposes (fewer than five runners).

Lower Lake and Middletown return to action next Wednesday in Middletown.
