After reading Mr. Strasser”s letter on Measure S I am unclear what he is trying to say. Clear Lake is not Lake Balatan in Hungary and we are not getting international assistance to help clean it up. We are the “cleanup committee.” After years of neglect Measure S is trying to put a viable plan in place that needs funding. The money raised will only be used for Water Quality Programs including Wetlands Restoration Programs, the Nuisance Aquatic Weeds and Algae Program, and the Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program.

I also felt Mr. Strasser”s letter was shrouded in negativity and a hopeless feeling for the future. The whole world is confronted with various environmental ills including global warming. Does that mean we do nothing but wait for the inevitable end? I hope I am part of a community that has a dream and a hope for a better future, a community that will fight for this precious place where we live. There are definite ways to improve Clear Lake and we need to start now. We all must know that each one of us can make a difference to protect our Lake.

Measure S is far from and “illusion” as stated by Mr. Strasser, but paves the way for a better tomorrow. I hope it does improve the economy and brings people to Lake County. Go to the website www.savethelake.info and read the measure yourself and then tell me it”s an illusion. Measure S gives us a plan to move forward and work together.

I think we forget we can make a difference in this confusing world that doesn”t seem to care about us. But we can care about each other right here, right now in this place called Lake County, USA. Vote yes on Measure S and be amazed at what we can accomplish together.
