LAKEPORT >> Dachshunds dashed during the derby, people participated in a pretzel eating contest and, of course, bellies were filled with beer and bratwurst Saturday during Lakeport”s Oktoberfest.

The fifth annual event, presented by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce, brought in hundreds to Lakeport”s downtown streets. The area was blocked off and lined with vendors selling soaps, jewelry clothing and plenty of other handcrafted goods.

Beers poured included that of brothers Alex and Tim O”Meara, of O”Meara Bros. Brewing Company, with names such as “Bottlerock Blonde” and “Elk Mountain IPA.” Lake County wines were also available for those wanting a break from the brew.

Events took place throughout the day, including a beer pong contest, corn hole toss and costume contests for pets and people alike.

Showcase the band played German music during an afternoon set, and The Jimi Z Band closed out Oktoberfest with a street dance that went into the night.
