LOWER LAKE >> Lower Lake quarterback Isazah King ran for three touchdowns, passed for two others and ran in a two-point conversions Friday night as the Trojans built a 28-8 halftime and beat the Clear Lake Cardinals 40-24 in North Central League I varsity football action at Gordon Sadler Field.

King scored on runs of 51, 2 and 10 yards. His touchdown passes, both in the second quarter, covered 60 yards to Brendan Maninger and 59 yards to David Rank.

James Clark also scored on a 53-yard run in the first quarter.

Clear Lake (0-3 league, 3-3 overall) closed to 34-24 in the fourth quarter and was driving for another score before losing possession on downs at the Lower Lake 10-yard line. The Trojans (1-2, 3-3) then drove down the field and scored on King”s 10-yard run to seal the victory.

“As a program, we took a big step forward today,” Lower Lake coach Justin Gaddy said.

Clear Lake quarterback Damian Lopez went 10-for-12 for 166 yards passing, including TD strikes of 25 yards to Deshawn White and 20 yards to Jared Strate. Marty Sugimoto also scored on a 2-yard run and Cole Brodnansky kicked a short field goal.
