Regarding the future of Clear Lake, I Just finished reading the letter from Hank Porter entitled “Algae”s not the problem.” It states that based on research conducted by UC Davis, in 1970, (44 years ago) algae can be controlled with a sprinkler system or submersible pumps. I”m not a scientist but common sense tells me that modern technology just might come up with other ideas to help control our algae and weed infestation.
With the passage of Measure S, we will have the financial resources to research ways to control the algae and weeds using 2014 technology. We will also be able implement methods to prevent a quagga/zebra mussel infestation.
Mr. Porter seems to be critical about the fact that there are no conclusions on handling the quagga/zebra mussel. The first item, that needs to on the agenda, is for the voters of Lake County to vote Yes on Measure S. This will provide us with the funds to form an Oversight Committee which will be responsible for focusing on solutions to the algae and weed problems, using 2014 science, as well as determining the best program possible to keep the quagga/zebra mussels out of Clear Lake.
We MUST have the funds to “Save The Lake”.
