Lakeport >> The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 88 of Lake County, has a limited supply of free-of-charge life jackets available for children 12 years old and younger to give away at the Heroes of Health & Safety Fair Saturday at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

Parents must accompany a child for a life jacket and complete forms. The child will be weighed and fitted by a member of the flotilla and both child and parent will be instructed on the proper wearing of the life jackets.

The flotilla”s booth will also distribute boating safety information and interact with the public to promote recreational boating safety. The U.S. Coast Guard Sector from Humboldt Bay Station is expected to participate with a helicopter static display on site.

The Heroes of Health & Safety Fair will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free-of-charge. Families with children are encouraged to attend.

Due to the fair, Flotilla 88 will hold it monthly meeting on Oct. 25 at 9:30 a.m. at the Konocti Bay Sailing Club building located at Braito”s Marina at 1555 Eastlake Drive in Kelseyville.

The fairgrounds are located at 401 Martin St. in Lakeport.
