LAKEPORT >> The team of Clark Small and Randy McAbee Sr. lead the 116-team field after day one of the American Bass AssociationTournament of Champions on Friday at Clear Lake.

Small and McAbee Sr. brought a five-fish limit of 25.26 pounds to the weight scales. Thirty-two other teams also weighed in five-fish limits on day one of the two-day competition.

Bryant Smith and Joseph Durling are second in the standings with 23.17 pounds and are followed by the teams of Paul Bailey and Jackson Juarez (22.8), Jim LaRosa and Brent Zeiska (21.7), and Darryl Burkhardt and Dana McKee (21.2 pounds).

Big-fish honors went to the team of Zack Thompson and John Bilheimer with a 9.92-pound bass. Five 8-pound-plus fish were weighed in on day one.

Today”s final-round weigh-in begins at 3 p.m. at Library Park in Lakeport.
