KELSEYVILLE >> The fifth annual Bass Bowl is set for Friday night at Kelseyville High School.
The annual rivalry game is between Clear Lake High School of Lakeport and Kelseyville High. The game has been won twice by each team since the inaugural Bass Bowl took place in 2010.
Kelseyville enters play 1-3 in the North Central League I standings and 4-3 overall while Clear Lake is 0-4 in league and 3-4 overall. Both teams are riding losing streaks — two games for the Knights, four for the Cardinals — and need a win to stay in the playoff hunt in their respective North Coast Section divisions — the Knights compete in Division IV and the Cardinals in Division V.
Because of league realignment and safety work done on Kelseyville”s bleachers, this is the first time Kelseyville is hosting the game. The Knights won the first Bass Bowl as well as last year”s game, with a pair of Clear Lake wins sandwiched in between.
While there will be no Civil War cannon firing at this year”s game and no Jumbotron in operation, the Bass Bowl trophy will be awarded to the winning team following the completion of Friday”s contest.
Fans and alumni from both schools are encouraged to wear their team”s colors.
Cheer squads from both schools have prepared special halftime routines.
