ROHNERT PARK >> Down to 11 players after losing three to grades, the Upper Lake Cougars fell 5-0 to Technology High School in a North Central League II girls” soccer game on Wednesday in Rohnert Park.
“I lost three midfielders to grades,” Upper Lake coach Mandy Robbins said. “We had to move some players around and we were weak in the midfield.”
Upper Lake (0-12-2) accidentally scored two of Technology”s goals because of mistakes on defense. The Cougars also had just four shots on goal compared to 24 for Tech.
Technology led 2-0 at the half.
Upper Lake keeper Jazlyn Bonilla collided with the frame defending a corner kick in the game”s final minutes and suffered a minor head injury, according to Robbins.
The Cougars” close out their home schedule on Friday against St. Vincent at 4:30 p.m.
Volleyball
Upper Lake def. Technology
At Rohnert Park, Heather Hankins served 13 straight points in the first set as the Upper Lake Cougars rolled past Technology High School 25-3, 25-18, 25-15 in NCL II varsity volleyball action.
It was Upper Lake”s third straight league win.
“The girls are really concentrating and talking out there,” Upper Lake coach Raelene Cromwell said. “It helps.”
Rooted on by members of the Upper Lake girls” soccer team, who also played Tech on Wednesday, the Cougars received solid play from Hankins, who finished with 25 service points and 18 assists, as well as Sierra Fugate with nine kills, two blocks, two aces and five digs, and LaShaye Taylor with four kills and 14 digs.
Upper Lake plays its final home match on Tuesday against Sonoma Academy.
