LAKEPORT >> The city of Lakeport is holding an art contest to promote awareness of, and to educate Lakeport Elementary School students (kindergarten through third-grade) against drug abuse.
This Halloween season, Lakeport kindergartners and first-graders are encouraged to enter their best coloring work, while second- and third-graders will have an opportunity to design and color a poster illustrating an anti-drug, Halloween inspired message.
Stenciled pictures, designed and drawn by Lakeport Police Officer Joe Eastham, for coloring and poster paper for drawing have been distributed to students at Lakeport Elementary School and available at City Hall.
The deadline to enter the contest is Oct. 24. One winner will be selected from each grade level with each receiving a new bike and helmet from Main Street Bicycles in Lakeport. Prizes will be awarded to second- and third-place finishers as well.
All entries will be posted at City Hall the week of Halloween and winners will be announced during the Lakeport Elementary Halloween parade on Oct. 31.
