At a recent meeting of the Lake County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, the Directors voted to endorse a Yes vote on Measure S, also known as Save the Lake.
Measure S would impose a countywide half-cent sales tax with the proceeds entirely dedicated to projects benefiting Lake County waterways, including Clear Lake. Measure S would aim efforts to reduce the impact that algal blooms and aquatic weeds have on Clear Lake as well as keeping quagga mussels and other invasive species out of Clear Lake and other county waterways.
As the manager of Lake County”s Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program, the Farm Bureau supports efforts that keep Lake County”s water free of any substance that might be harmful to residents and agriculturists. In addition Measure S will assist the county in the Middle Creek Project, other wetland restorations and many other projects that aim to fund mandated water quality programs that are not fully paid by state or federal agencies.
