Prepare for flu season
CLEARLAKE >> The Highlands Senior Service Center (HSSC) will host a flu shot clinic today.
Rite Aid will provide flu shots from 9 to 11 a.m.. The flu shots are free-of-charge for any person who has Medicare Part B. The vaccines are $31.99 for those who do not have Medicare Part B.
On Nov. 12 the Lake County Department of Public Health will provide flu shots at HSSC from 9 to noon for a cost of $2.
Flu vaccines are recommended for anyone 6 months of age or older. Children between the ages of 6 months through 8 years who are receiving flu shots for the first time are required to get two doses of vaccine administered at least four weeks apart for full protection against the flu.

Hospice hosts bereavement workshop
CLEARLAKE >> Hospice Services of Lake County will hold a Bereavement Workshop at the Highlands Senior Service Center on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the West Classroom.
Hospice Services provides grief and loss support for family members, friends and caregivers.

Thrift store celebrates with sale

Craft faire seeks applicants as deadline nears
LAKEPORT >> Organizers looking for craftspeople who would like to participate in the Christmas Crafts Faire on Dec. 6 at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center.
The deadline to apply is Nov. 10, and applications are available at the senior center front desk, or the can be mailed by calling 263-4721 to request one.
Those who participated last year will be given preference.
Funds from the holiday event will benefit the senior center.
The senior center is located at 527 Konocti Ave. in Lakeport.
