SANTA ROSA >> Stung early by Roseland Prep, the Upper Lake Cougars floundered in the first half before recovering a bit in the second half of a 5-0 loss during North Central League II girls” soccer action on Wednesday in Santa Rosa.

Roseland Prep scored in the opening minutes while building a 4-0 halftime lead.

“When a team scores early against us, my team just handle the mental aspect of it,” Upper Lake coach Mandy Robbins said. “Mentally they haven”t figured that part of the game out.”

The Cougars recovered somewhat in the second half but had only five shots on goal the entire second half and nothing close to a score.

Robbins said she didn”t have a standout during the game.

“They played pretty evenly,” she said.

Upper Lake closes out its season today against Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa at 4:30 p.m.
