Like a lot of folks, I am less than happy with the wording of S. On the other hand I also think that our lake needs help – badly. I may think S could be better, but in my mind the potential good for the county far outweighs my doubts, because without it there is every likelihood that nothing will be done beyond people”s moaning and groaning.
Even if you consider the proposition “half a loaf,” there seems to be no question that our lake really needs that “half” so I feel there is no choice other than “yes.” Doing nothing, in this case, is bad lake management.
The county”s next actions, I feel, should be to deal with the rights and responsibilities of lakeshore property and those of us who are fortunate to have creeks, however small and seasonal, cross our land. Then, on to better management of the many dubious substances that leach into the lake and add to the lake”s problems.
