As a city councilmember in Lakeport, few things frustrate me more than when Sacramento sets mandates for local governments to follow. These “one size fits all” regulations often don”t work for the diverse communities of California and compromise the ability of local elected officials to serve our constituents.
That”s why it”s comforting to know we have the opportunity to send Bill Dodd, someone who knows a thing or two about local government, to represent Lake County in the State Assembly.
After serving on the Napa County Board of Supervisors for the last 14 years, Bill has a keen understanding that government closest to the people – cities and counties – does the best job of representing our communities.
That”s why he supports local-control funding of public schools because our children in Lakeport have different needs in the classroom than students in San Francisco or Los Angeles.
It”s this common sense approach to governing which is why I”m urging voters to cast their ballots for Bill Dodd on November 4.
