CLEARLAKE OAKS >> Bernie Butcher, owner and proprietor of the Tallman Hotel and Blue Wing Saloon, will present a program on the history of Upper Lake at the Lake County Historical Society (LCHS) Thanksgiving dinner meeting at the Live Oak Senior Center on Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m.

Butcher says that the slideshow presentation will introduce the geography of the county, the historical evolution of Upper Lake on the confluence of the streams entering the lake as a transport hub and market town, the history of the Tallman family in building a hotel, saloon and livery stable business, the decline of the town and that business and efforts by Butcher and his wife Lynne Butcher to rehabilitate the hotel and rebuild the saloon into a restaurant.

Dinner tickets for LCHS members are $15 and $18 for guests.
