LAKE COUNTY >> Final election results are expected to be completed before Thanksgiving, according to county officials.

“That”s the plan right now,” Lake County Registrar of Voters Diane Fridley said. “But we only have one full week until then.”

The final deadline to have the remaining approximately 5,500 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots is Dec. 2, Fridley said.

Of those remaining ballots, 1,545 are vote-by-mail ballots received by mail on Nov. 3 and 4; 27 are ballots from military and overseas voters; 341 are vote-by-mail ballots received at the registrars counter on Nov. 3 and 4 and 2,686 are vote-by-mail ballots dropped off at the polls on election day.

For the provisional ballots, 678 were cast at the polls, while 259 votes were cast at the registrars” office.

“We have to count the vote-by-mail ballots before the provisional, to make sure nobody voted twice,” Fridley said.

Beginning Tuesday, the Registrar of Voters Office will begin it one-percent manual tally of the county”s precincts, which Fridley expects to last between two-and-a-half to three days.

The purpose of the tally is to verify the accuracy of ballot counts made by machine. The precincts to be included in the tally are selected at random, with a hand count commencing immediately after their selection.

Members of the public are invited to observe the tally, which will begin at 9 a.m. at the Registrar of Voters Office on the second floor of the Lake County Courthouse.

The Lake County Courthouse is located at 255 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport.
