NAPA >> Kelseyville High School provided No. 2 seed Justin-Siena with all it could handle in two of three sets before bowing to the Braves 25-22, 25-10, 25-21 in the quarterfinal round of the North Coast Section Division IV volleyball playoffs on Saturday night in Napa.

Kelseyville, the North Central League I runner-up this season and No. 10 playoff seed, closes out the year at 22-9. The Knights were the only Lake County team to reach the quarterfinal round.

“My girls played a good game, not their best game, but a good game,” Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister said.

Justin-Siena (18-15) hosts No. 3 seed Healdsburg (28-11) in the semifinals on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., the winner advancing to the sectional finals on Saturday against the winner of Wednesday”s other semifinal between No. 1 seed Marin Catholic and No. 4 St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo.

Team leaders for the Knights in their season finale were Abby McQueen and Heidy Cano, each with seven kills, Riley Goff with 10 assists, Mary McCallister with nine assists and 16 digs, Lauren Rudnick with 20 digs, and Carli Mendonca with two blocks. McQueen also had three aces.

“They have more height and experience,” McCallister said of the Braves. “And their setter played very well. She put the ball where it needed to be for their hitters.”

While the Knights will take their hits from graduation, McCallister said she expects Kelseyville to be right back in the mix in 2015.

“I”m going to miss my seniors, but the players coming up learned from them this season and I think they”re going to be good replacements right away,” McCallister said. “We”re already into our club ball season, so our younger players will be gaining experience.”
