REDMOND, Ore. >> Aiden Dancer of the Upper Lake Junior Cougars Wrestling Club made the long haul to Redmond, Oregon, on Saturday to compete in the Rumble on the Rock Tournament.

The 7-year-old Dancer was one of 29 wrestlers competing in a double-elimination bracket in the 50-pound bantam division. After losing a hard-fought 7-6 decision to the Oregon state champion in his first match, Dancer reeled off seven straight wins in the consolation bracket, all by first-round pin, to claim what was originally a third-place medal. He then won in a challenge match against the original second-place medal winner, pinning him in the third round, to upgrade his final finish to second.

Dancer was the only California wrestler in his division and one of only seven California wrestlers taking part in the entire tournament.

The Upper Lake Junior Cougars are in action Sunday at Iderkum High School in Sacramento for the Cal Elite Folkstyle Tournament.
