UPDATED:

There seems to be a continuous stream of letter to the Editor on the subject of Religion versus Evolution, but I think that I am like many other people who have no problem believing in both.

The Bible tells us that a thousand years is but a day to God. Maybe the seven days spoken of in Genesis were in fact millions of years. God does not put a man or woman on this earth fully formed. They start out as a tiny cell and a sperm. They then become an embryo, then a fetus, then a baby nursing at its mother”s breast. It takes many years and many experiences for them to become fully mature. A mighty oak does not start out that way. It starts as an acorn dropped from a mature tree and nurtured by earth, rain and sunshine to become first a sapling, then a young tree and finally, after hundreds of years, it is the marvel that we see.

The time that it takes for these things to happen does not in any way detract from the miracles that they are. The Earth, moon, stars and yes the entire universe and everything and everyone in it are marvelous miracles of God. The fact that it did not all spring up overnight or in six short days is totally beside the point. Remember, He rested on the seventh.

Everything and everyone is still evolving and hopefully one day we really will be more like God and will not find it necessary to question whether one religion or one skin color or one way of life is the “right” one. In the meantime, let”s all just try to be understanding of other people”s point of view.
