We live in a funny day: I can drink, smoke, wear and sleep with whatever I want and encourage others to do likewise and no one says a word. But if I say I believe my Bible and am willing to defend my beliefs, wow then Pastors have something to say.

In this day of increased knowledge, I am always amazed at how little research people actually take the time to do. It is easy today to look up the beliefs and activities of Wescott and Hort. It is not hard to look into the text issue and to find which verses and doctrines have been eliminated. A quick search will give you the publishing houses and individuals that profit from versions and what else they produce. Try getting together with friends for a study and all read the 23rd Psalm from different versions and notice how much it sounds like the tower of Babel.

My goodness, does anyone else seem to notice the fruit of New Evangelicalism? Christians are called to be salt and light. Have we forgotten that there is a lion, or perhaps some of us think that if we fit in like the world he will leave us alone? Well, I believe my Bible. I for one am thankful for all of the young men who gave their lives so that I could have the religious freedom we now enjoy. It would be an insult to them and their families to just hand over these freedoms because someone is embarrassed or outraged, or because someone can quote some scholar somewhere who disagrees. I am thankful for editors who protect this freedom. I am not ashamed of the gospel or my Bible and I am not afraid to defend it in a public forum for it speaks of the mercy and long suffering love that God has for a wretched sinner as myself.
