LAKE COUNTY >> Cole Brodnansky of Clear Lake High School and Wyatt Hall of Middletown High School are this year”s recipients of $1,000 college scholarships awarded by the Lake-Mendocino branch of the Northern California Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

Hall and Brodnansky were selected from a group of scholar-athletes nominated by their coaches for their athletic abilities, including performance and attitude on the field; in the classroom for their academic achievement; and for school leadership, citizenship and community involvement.

All nominees must be seniors and have at least a B grade point average. They will be honored along with other branch winners early next year.

Five judges scored all the candidates based on the following criteria: Grade point average (40 percent), athletic ability (40 percent), contributions to their school and community (20 percent).

Candidates are divided into two divisions — back and lineman. This year”s candidates were, in the back category, Brodnansky, Anthonie Guzman of Middletown, Isazah King of Lower Lake and Preston Salmons of Mendocino. Candidates in the linemen category were Hall, William Isaacs of Lower Lake, Julian Lewis of Clear Lake and Codi McGuire of Kelseyville.

All candidates receive certificates.
