Each year the Lake Ministerial Association (LMA) offers a writing contest for youth and young adults. In the past, some of the essays have been about Christian unity and the writing of C.S. Lewis and Martin Luther King Jr. The LMA offers one scholarship of $500 to a high school or college student who best articulates the year”s theme. This award may be used for tuition or a mission trip.
This year”s theme is “Responsible Use of Social Media.” Our culture is changing rapidly with the rise and use of social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. We are all challenged about how to responsibly use these and others with integrity, character and transparency. How should we continue to communicate a consistent message and responsible morals through these changing communication formats?
Essays must be three type-written pages long and address this year”s theme. Essays must be received by 10 a.m. on January 31. Late entries will not be considered. Entries can be submitted personally to any of the following:
? Dr. Rick Barnes, Secretary LMA, Pastor at Lake County Bible Fellowship in Lakeport
? Pastor Mike Suski, Treasurer LMA, Pastor at Lakeport Christian Center
? Rev. Shannon Kimbell-Auth, President LMA, Pastor at United Christian Parish in Lakeport
or mailed to UCP at 745 N Brush St., Lakeport, CA 95453. Please mark the envelope “Essay Contest”.
For more information you may talk to any of the LMA Board officers mentioned above. You do not need to be a member of a Lake Ministerial Association church to participate, but you must live in the North Shore area.
The Lake Ministerial Association welcomes pastors interested in working together in Christian unity. We meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month at Angelina”s Caf? in Lakeport at 10:30am.
