CLEARLAKE >> AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the country”s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteers in the Clearlake area to help Lake County taxpayers who are seeking assistance with preparing and filing their 2014 tax returns.
The program is a free, income tax preparation and counseling service for all people with limited to moderate income, focusing on those who are 60 years of age and older. Using tax-aide provided computers at local sites, IRS certified volunteer tax counselors prepare and electronically file basic state and federal income tax returns, including itemized deductions and income from interest, dividends and sale of stocks.
Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to participate. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers receive free tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses, including mileage.
Millions of low- to moderate-income people, especially those 60 and older, need help preparing their taxes. Volunteer for the program and make sure they get all the deductions and credits they deserve. For more information on how to join the team, visit www.aarp.org/taxvolunteer.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in conjunction with the IRS.
