MIDDLETOWN >> Abby Aden”s double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds led Middletown to a 58-28 non-league win over Winters in varsity girls” basketball action on Monday night in Middletown.

Ashlyn Welton added 12 points and nine rebounds as Middletown improved to 2-3.

“We were good right from the tip tonight on both ends of the floor,” Middletown coach Anthony Bazzano said.

Middletown”s performance was in sharp contrast to a 46-34 loss to San Rafael on Saturday in the third-place game at the Maria Carrillo Tournament in Santa Rosa, a game in which the Mustangs trailed 24-9 at halftime and played catch-up the rest of the way, getting as close as eight points down the stretch.

“We just wanted it more tonight,” Bazzano said. “We were more focused from the start.”

Middletown led 14-5 after one quarter, 25-13 at halftime and 42-21 through three quarters.

Kaleigh Alves, Katie Depp and Nicole Corsetti added six points apiece in the win.

Against San Rafael on Saturday, Welton led the way with nine points, Makenzi Smith added seven and Emily Lescher had six.

Middletown returns to action Thursday against Analy in the opening round of the Redwood Empire Invitational at Healdsburg.

Lower Lake 30

At Healdsburg, Lower Lake dropped a 47-30 decision at Healdsburg as the Trojans” ultra-young squad struggled mightily with its shooting in the first half and trailed the host Greyhounds 25-8 at halftime.

Ashlynn Mock led the Trojans (2-2) with 15 points while Jolene Scarborough added five.

Lower Lake won the JV game 46-18 behind 12 points from Vanessa Hughes.

The varsity Trojans return to action Thursday against Benicia at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the St. Helena Tournament.
