Driving to our place from the city of Clearlake is normally a process of dodging the ever widening pot holes and of making note of the piles of garbage deposited along the roads by the piles of trash who won”t pay to have their garbage picked-up or haul it to the landfill, choosing instead to make it both the communities eyesore and responsibility to clean up.

Yesterday as we headed home in the rain there was a van parked at a known dumping spot, however instead of depositing garbage we found someone picking up a pile.

What a pleasant surprise to discover that we are not the only ones that do this, but that our neighbor Norm is a fellow pick-er-upper. We had a pleasant group gripe about the “trash” who dump their garbage; the county and city not keeping up with it; and the need for some mandated solution.

We then drove home with a new respect and thankfulness for our good neighbor.
