The Beit Chavurah congregation hold Shabbat services on the first and third Fridays of the month at Lower Lake Methodist Church at 16255 Second St. in Lower Lake.
Yesterday”s Simchat Torah and Shabbat Service was held at 7 p.m. This Shabbat”s Torah portion was Vayishlach (Genesis 32:4 – 36:43). For a synopsis of this week”s Parshah, see www.baischabad.com/parshah/default.asp.
Yahrzeits
The following is a list of the Yahrzeits that will be remembered this month, in case you need to light a Yahrzeit (memorial) candle. For those who follow the Yahrzeit observance custom for relatives, a special Yahrzeit candle should be lit beginning at sunset on the evening before the day listed (and normally stays lit for 24 hours).
Rabbi Altman has several extra Yahrzeit candles available at no charge to congregation members, which may be picked up at one of the Shabbat services or from his home. He should be contacted directly if you need one.
Whenever possible, please make an extra effort to join us for the listed Shabbat service. It is much better to recite the Mourner”s Kaddish among your friends at Beit Chavurah.

It is very important in the Jewish tradition to remember Yahrzeits. If you have lost a close relative this year (or even in past years), please send Rabbi Altman the information, including the person”s name, the date of death (as close as you can come), and his/her relationship to you. Even if you don”t light a Yahrzeit candle, Rabbi Altman will read their names at the Shabbat service nearest to the actual date of the Yahrzeit.
If anyone needs a copy of the Mourner”s Kaddish, please let Rabbi Altman know and he will send it to you (with the Hebrew and Transliteration).
Please check out the Beit Chavurah Memorial Page at beitchavurah.awardspace.com/memorial.htm.
Donations in memory of a friend or loved one may be sent to Richard Altman, P.O. Box 4388, Clearlake, CA 95422. Please make checks payable to “Richard Altman” and put “Memorial” on the memo line, along with the person”s name you are honoring.
2015 Rent
There are no dues or membership fees at Beit Chavurah. Once a year, we ask for voluntary financial support for our wonderful Jewish Congregation. Please send (or bring) whatever you can afford to help us cover our Congregation”s rent and other expenses for 2015. We need to cover about $750 in expenses for the entire year. We still need at least $400 to meet our rent and expenses. Thanks to several of our members, we have already received nearly $350 towards our rent.
The 2015 Beit Chavurah Calendars are ready and available at beitchavurah.awardspace.com//calendar-2015.htm.
