WILLITS >> Tanner Hutton didn’t earn an All-Tournament award for Clear Lake on Saturday, but he did everything else as the Cardinals beat Kelseyville 66-42 in the championship game of the Willits Tournaemnt for junior varsity boys’ basketball teams.
Hutton scored a team-leading 28 points against Kelseyville and led the Cardinals with 54 points during the two-day, three-game tournament.
Ryan Damiata, named the tournament MVP, added 21 points and All-Tourney selection Max De Leon had 15 in Clear Lake’s victory.
“He (Hutton) deserves something,” Clear Lake coach Phil Psalmonds said. “He played great.”
Damiata finished the tournament with 52 points.
Clear Lake (5-1) defeated St. Helena 62-33 earlier Saturday after opening tournament play with a 71-44 victory over the Ukiah frosh on Friday.
Kelseyville (3-1) was led by Trey Conrad’s nine points in the championship game. The Knights beat Mendocino 67-23 early Saturday behind 18 points from Nate Carpenter and 12 from Ean Valenzuela.
