LOWER LAKE >> The 21st annual Record-Bee Hoop Classic boys” basketball tournament tips off at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday when Middletown and Kelseyville square off in a junior varsity game at Lower Lake High School”s new gym. The varsity teams from the same schools play at 4 p.m.

Also on Thursday, Clear Lake and Lower Lake meet. The JVs tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity squads collide at 7 p.m.

The tournament, which runs through Saturday, uses a round-robin format. Winners are determined by overall record.

Friday”s schedule in the JV bracket features Clear Lake vs. Kelseyville at 2:30 p.m. and Middletown vs. Lower Lake at 4:30 p.m. Varsity games on Friday pair Clear Lake and Kelseyville at 6 p.m. and Middletown against Lower Lake at 8 p.m. Shooting contests in both the JV and varsity divisions also take place Friday. The JV free-throw and 3-point shoots follow the first JV game. The varsity free-throw and 3-point contests follow the first varsity game.

Saturday”s schedule features JV games between Kelseyville-Lower Lake at 3 p.m. and Middletown-Clear Lake at 4:30 p.m., and varsity games between Kelseyville-Lower Lake at 6 p.m. and Middletown-Clear Lake at 7:30 p.m. The awards ceremony follows the final game.

The Hoop Classic is a fundraiser for the host high school, which keeps all gate receipts, concession and program sales. Team entry fees pay for the officials while the Record-Bee pays for all awards and program costs.
