Greg Blinn touched on the subject of eternal judgment in the Nov. 13 Record-Bee. I think that we all agree that it makes no sense for a loving God to punish an individual for eternity when his or her life only covered a short span. Also, it”s common sense that the saved could never be happy in heaven if some of their loved ones were simultaneously being tormented in Hell.

It is amazing at the number of people that have been duped into believing in the doctrine of eternal torment. While it is true that the punishment is eternal in the sense that it is permanent the actual punishing is only temporary. Those who were more evil will suffer a little longer. It can easily be shown that this is the case, but this is not the proper forum for a Bible study.

The problem with the eternal torment doctrine is that it misrepresents the character of God. It makes Him look like some kind of a monster. It”s no wonder that so many level-headed individuals have an aversion to Christianity.
