LAKE COUNTY >> Lake County”s Deputy Administrative Officer, Alan Flora, recently announced he will be moving on to a larger role in neighboring Mendocino County with a position as the assistant chief executive officer.
Jan. 2 will mark his last day after working in the county offices for six years as assistant planner, associate planner, redevelopment analyst, administrative analyst and currently as deputy county administrative officer.
“Serving Lake County has been a pleasure and an honor,” Flora stated. “The community in Lake County is phenomenal, and a part of my heart will always be here.”
Serving under Mendocino County”s Chief Executive Officer, Carmel Angelo, Flora said he believed there would be opportunities for collaboration between the two counties.
“I am confident in the relationships I have built in Lake County and expect to explore those opportunities in the future,” he stated.
“There are always things I would like to have been able to impact more, I think really I just wish I had more time to work at it,” Flora responded when asked if there was anything he would have done differently in hindsight. “I really tried to work my heart out for the community and be authentic. I believe deeply in the people here and I am optimistic that the individual passions out there will find a common flame and transform it for the better.”
Looking forward, Flora said he”s ready to get started in Mendocino County.
According to publicpay.ca.gov figures, Flora could also be looking forward to a nearly $50,000 increase in salary and a doubling in retirement and health benefits. Lake County pays its top deputy administrative officer $72,000 while Mendocino County appears to be offering more than $119,000 for the assistant position.
