LAKE COUNTY >> A fantastic year on defense and a sensational season on offense made it a great 2014 for Lower Lake High School senior Isazah King, who is the MVP on both sides of the line of scrimmage on the All-Lake County football team as selected by the Lake County Record-Bee.

King set a single-season rushing record for a county quarterback with 1,629 yards. His combined total of 2,580 rushing and passing yards was another county single-season record. He ran for 19 touchdowns, passed for another nine while throwing only six interceptions, and he was the county”s scoring leader with 157 points, 55 more than his nearest pursuer.

Joining King in the All-County first-team offensive backfield is Middletown junior quarterback Connor Armstrong (1,137 yards, seven TDs) and running backs Wyatt Hall of Middletown (959 yards, 16 TDs), Robert McLean of Kelseyville (1,145 yards, 10 TDs) and Lower Lake”s James Clark (531 yards, 4 TDs rushing), all seniors.

The All-County offensive line consists of an all-senior crew comprised of Codi McGuire of Kelseyville, Gerardo Cruz of Middletown, Anthony Williams of Lower Lake, Julian Lewis of Clear Lake and Tyler Banks of Upper Lake.

All-County wide receivers are seniors Anthonie Guzman (51 catches for 729 yards) of Middletown and Brendan Maninger (24 catches for 545 yards) of Lower Lake. The tight ends are Middletown senior Cody Chorjel (18 catches for 268 yards) and Upper Lake junior Andrew Redder.

The All-County placekicker is Middletown senior Tyler Holt.

Defense

While King”s contributions to the Lower Lake offense were immense, his play as a sure-handed, lightning-quick member of the Trojans” secondary were every bit as impressive, so much so that he was named the MVP on the All-North Central League I first-team defense. Along with being one of the Trojans” top tacklers, King tied for the county lead with interceptions (five) and interceptions returned for touchdowns (three).

Up front on the All-County defense are senior linemen Joey Burns of Middletown, Leon Fred of Clear Lake and Deangelo Alexander of Lower Lake. They are flanked by All-County defensive ends Hall of Middletown and Williams of Lower Lake.

All-County linebackers, a position stacked with talent this year, are seniors Chorjel of Middletown and Clark of Lower Lake, juniors Noah Lyndall of Kelseyville and Wyatt Jones of Middletown, and seniors Cole Brodnansky of Clear Lake and Junior Serrano of Upper Lake.

In addition to MVP King, the All-County secondary features seniors Guzman of Middletown, Deshawn White of Clear Lake and Michael Di Andrea of Upper Lake.
