BRENTWOOD >> Clear Lake High School wrestlers Emily Psalmonds and Julian Lewis scored a pair of solid outings last week during tournament action at Liberty High School in Brentwood.

Psalmonds, a junior, pinned all three of her opponents to win at 111 pounds during the Brittany David Invitational for girls. Lewis, a senior, nailed down a fourth-place medal at the Lou Bronzan Invitational for boys, one of the top tournaments in the north state and often considered a preview of the North Coast Section Championships to be held early next year.

Lewis won his first match and lost his second. He battled back through the consolation bracket to reach the third-place match, where he came up just short. His fourth-place medal was the highest earned by a Lake County wrestler at the competition.

The Cardinals sent two wrestlers to each of the tournaments.

Clear Lake”s wrestlers return to action Friday and Saturday at the Dennis Jensen Invitational in Middletown.
