CLEARLAKE >> The remains of a human skull found late November have been identified as a person reported missing in October, and the case is now being investigated as a homicide.

Clearlake police received a call on Nov. 29 at about 10:19 p.m. from a resident on the 2700 block of Oleander Street reporting he found a human skull in his yard, according to Sgt. Nick Bennett. The following day, partial remains of a deceased person were located near the residence where the skull had been found. Autopsy and DNA results have matched the skull and body as belonging to the same person.

The remains have been identified as that of 36-year-old Guillermo Figueroa who was reported as a missing person from Hidden Valley Lake on Oct. 27.

A joint investigation into the disappearance of Figueroa has been ongoing between the Clearlake Police Department (CPD) and the Lake County Sheriff”s Office and is now being investigated as a homicide.
