CLEARLAKE >> Multiple drugs, including methamphetamine and cocaine, were confiscated after a chase that led police through city streets and wooded areas Monday afternoon.
Just before 4:30 p.m., Clearlake Police Department (CPD) officer Travis Pason attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red motorcycle for a minor traffic violation near the intersections of Eighth Street and Bush Street in Clearlake Park, Sgt. Rodd Joseph stated.
The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Clearlake resident Berret Brown, allegedly fled and led CPD officers on a vehicle pursuit with speeds that topped out at around 60 mph over at least two stretches during the several-mile-long pursuit, Joseph stated. Brown crashed the motorcycle into a culvert at the intersections of Evans Avenue and Alvita Avenue. He was taken into custody without further incident.
During a search incident to arrest, more than 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine, more than a gram and a half of suspected cocaine, several hypodermic syringes and marijuana were allegedly located on his person, according to Joseph. Brown was found to have a suspended drivers license and is on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) through the Lake County Probation Department.
Brown was medically cleared and later booked into the Lake County jail on several charges to include evading, evading- wrong way driver, driving on a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance and a violation of his PRCS terms.
