
TURLOCK >> Four members of the Upper Lake Junior Cougars wrestling club traveled to Turlock on Sunday to compete in the Jr. Bulldog Classic/TOC Qualifier and three of them brought home first-place medals.
Jose Fernandez III, the only varsity wrestler, went undefeated and unscored upon as he posted a 4-0 record with two pins and tech falls. Aiden Dancer also went 4-0 and was unscored upon with four first-round pins. Cody Banks had the other first-place medal, going 2-0 with two pins.
Hayden Fowler picked up a third-place medal.
In other action Sunday, brother and sister Donovan and Gabriella Fernandez traveled to Sonoma for the Wine Country Folkstyle Kids Tournament. Gabriella went undefeated in her weight class while taking first. Donovan came in second.
Club members will be at three different locations this weekend. Aiden Dancer is competing at the Nuway Nationals in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jose Fernandez III is competing in Hanford at the fifth annual California Republic Invitational, and the rest of the Junior Cougars visit Sierra College in Rocklin for the Granite Bay Winter Classic.
