WILLITS >> Tanner Hutton”s 15 points and four steals helped lead the Clear Lake Cardinals to a lopsided 56-16 win over the Willits Wolverines in North Central League I junior varsity boys” basketball action on Tuesday evening in Willits.

It was the league opener for both teams.

Clear Lake (1-0 league, 12-1 overall) built a 38-13 halftime lead before outscoring Willits 15-0 in the third quarter.

Ryan Damiata also figured prominently in the win with 10 points and eight steals.

The Cardinals play at Lower Lake on Friday at 6 p.m.

Kelseyville 71

Cloverdale 57

At Kelseyville, Gideon Turner poured in 20 points and Ean Valenzuela contributed 17 more as the Kelseyville Knights beat the Cloverdale Eagles in NCL I action.

Trey Conrad and Nate Carpenter added 11 points apiece as the Knights, ahead 34-26 at halftime, used a big third quarter to pull away from the Eagles.

“We just turned it on,” Keleyville coach Rich Facey said. “It was a great team win as far as that goes.”

Kelseyville held a 20-point lead most of the fourth quarter.

The Knights host Fort Bragg on Friday at 6 p.m.

Lower Lake 52

St. Helena 49

At St. Helena, the Lower Lake Trojans opened their NCL I campaign with a road win over the St. Helena Saints.

Marlon Jones led Lower Lake with 18 points.

The Trojans host Clear Lake on Friday at 6 p.m.

Fort Bragg 38

Middletown 36

At Fort Bragg, Connor Santos scored a team-leading 14 points but the Middletown Mustangs fell to Fort Bragg in the league opener for both teams.

Ricardo Chaires and Colton Hall each had six points for Middletown.

At Middletown, Callie Wilson”s 14 points propelled the Middletown Mustangs to a league win over the Fort Bragg Timberwolves in JV girls” action.

Ally Tallman added eight points as the Mustangs improved to 6-3 overall.

“It was close all the way,” Middletown coach Roxi Hoogendoorn said. “We started out really slow after being off for a couple of weeks.”

Middletown hosts St. Helena on Friday at 6 p.m.

Clear Lake 52

At Lakeport, the Clear Lake Cardinals opened their NCL I schedule with another win, pushing their season record to 13-0, as they routed the Willits Wolverines.

Playing with a complete lineup for the first time in weeks, the Cardinals received 16 points from Camille Donald, 13 from Valerie Hutton and 10 from Kiana Richardson. They host Lower Lake on Friday at 6 p.m.

At Lower Lake, Shayna Pike led the way with 14 points as Lower Lake knocked off the St. Helena Saints in league action.

Lower Lake plays at Clear Lake on Friday.

Cloverdale 44

Kelseyville 39

At Kelseyville, the Cloverdale Eagles spoiled Kelseyville”s league opener, rallying in the second half to beat the Knights.

Tymeka Green led Kelseyville with 13 points and Rachael Linnell added 10.

The teams were tied 22-all at halftime.

Kelseyville is 6-6 overall.
